Glass Quarter Supplementary Planning Document (SPD)

The Glass Quarter SPD was adopted on December 9th 2009.

The aim of this SPD is to provide a framework to guide development and investment in the Glass Quarter whilst recognising and retaining its unique heritage, in order for it to evolve as a visitor destination to the benefit of local residents, businesses and visitors. The key role of the SPD is to provide more guidance and detail on how the policies within the Local Plan should be implemented with respect to the Glass Quarter.

An Urban Historic Landscape Characterisation (HLC) Study was conducted to form part of the evidence base for the SPD, this can be accessed from the following link: Glass Quarter Urban HLC.

Consultation on the SPD was undertaken between 18th September and 30th October 2009. The responses and comments received through this were used to inform the final document.
