Blowers Green waste depot

On Friday 3rd July at approximately 11.30pm a fire was detected in the cardboard storage area of Dudley Council’s Blowers Green Waste Depot on the Thornleigh Trading Estate in Dudley.

Our on-site team immediately triggered emergency protocols and evacuated the premises.

West Midlands Fire Service was notified instantly and has brought the fire under control. We can confirm that all staff and visitors were evacuated safely.

No injuries have been reported. We are working with the Police and Fire Services in their investigations.

Scheduled waste and recycling services are operating as planned.

The Council is currently assessing the wider impact to waste services. Further details will be issued when available.

Planning services

We have recently upgraded to a new document management system to improve our services. However, we are currently experiencing some unforeseen technical issues that are affecting the processing of certain services, including:

  • Planning applications
  • Planning enforcement cases
  • Building control applications
  • Local land charge requests

Please bear with us while we work to resolve these issues as quickly as possible. We appreciate your patience and understanding during this transition.
