The draft Statement of Accounts 2024/2025, for the financial year ending 31st March 2025, provide information about the expenditure and income of the Council's services for the year 2024/25 and the Council's assets and liabilities at the year end.
The Accounts and Audit (Amendment) Regulations 2024 require that the Local Authority publishes a note when the publication of the final financial statements have been delayed, providing an appropriate explanation. The Local Authority published its unaudited accounts on 30th June 2025 and they were approved by Audit Committee on 26th June 2025.
The external auditors (Grant Thornton UK LLP) have indicated a delay in finalising their audit opinion, due to additional work being undertaken, primarily regarding the Authority’s arrangements for securing economy, efficiency and effectiveness in its use of resources. We are working with the auditor to try and resolve things quickly, so that the auditor can conclude their work.
