Amber heat health alert 8-12 July

The UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) has issued an Amber Heat Health Alert for all regions in England, from 9am on Wednesday 8 July until 9pm on Sunday 12 July. Rising temperatures may increase health risks, particularly for vulnerable groups. For advice on staying cool, signs of heat exhaustion, swimming safely outdoors, fire safety, and more: Summer wellbeing

In January 2026, the Building Safety Regulator issued Enforcement Notices for three high rise buildings in the borough.

This is happening across the country, not just in Dudley. These notices are administrative only and relate to the way Building Safety Cases have been recorded. The Notices do not mean that the blocks are in anyway unsafe.

Under new laws, all owners of high-rise buildings in the country must submit technical reports and information about their buildings. Dudley has 21 high-rise buildings and has been gathering the required technical information to send to the Building Safety Regulator.

The notices require the council to provide extra building survey information and information we provide to tenants around fire safety.

The council is committed to keeping residents informed throughout the process.
