Amber heat health alert 8-12 July

The UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) has issued an Amber Heat Health Alert for all regions in England, from 9am on Wednesday 8 July until 9pm on Sunday 12 July. Rising temperatures may increase health risks, particularly for vulnerable groups. We understand that as care leavers you can face additional financial barriers to undertaking an apprenticeship. To help ensure you can access apprenticeships you are entitled to receive a £1,000 bursary from the Government (if you are aged between 16 and 24). This money will be paid to you via your training provider.

Apprenticeship support

As you look for an apprenticeship, you will be able to access support to:

  • Receive careers guidance and information on the opportunities available
  • Complete applications to a good standard
  • Ensure that you are guaranteed an interview if you meet the criteria
  • Prepare for interviews and present yourself well
  • Gain relevant work experience in order that you understand what it is like in the working environment
  • Enable your employer to understand your needs and how we can ensure that you are successful in progressing
  • Ensure that you have the necessary ID to show your employer
