Help with the cost of living

For many individuals and families, financial pressures can arise from changes in income, rising living costs, or unexpected expenses, making it harder to manage everyday essentials. Taking early action is key. If you're feeling overwhelmed or uncertain about your financial situation, speaking to someone you trust can help you gain perspective and feel less isolated. Financial concerns are common, and addressing them sooner rather than later can prevent issues from escalating.

Always check if you are eligible for benefits, even if you are working or receiving a pension.

If you're over the state pension age (currently 66) and on a low income, you may be eligible for Pension Credit, which provides additional financial support to help with living costs. To find out more or make a claim, call the Pension Credit claims line on 0800 991 234 or textphone 0800 169 0133, Monday to Friday, 8am to 6pm.

There is a wide range of helpful information available on our cost of living page, including guidance on budgeting, energy saving, and accessing local support. Don’t wait, taking small steps today can lead to greater financial confidence and peace of mind.
